Common Mistakes to Avoid While Applying

  • Incorrect OBC certificate date: OBC (NCL) candidates must hold an original certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026. Older certificates are rejected outright during document verification.
  • Single fee payment for multiple posts: Applying for five different posts but paying the fee only once will result in incomplete applications for posts 2-5. Pay the requisite fee per post.
  • Missing experience requirements: Group A posts and many Group B posts carry strict experience prerequisites in specific pay levels. Applying without the required years in the correct level results in automatic rejection.
  • Invalid PwD disability certificate: Certificates must explicitly state a minimum of 40% disability. Certificates older than three years from the notification date or certificates lacking percentage clarity disqualify candidates from PwD benefits.
  • OBC creamy layer violation: Your OBC certificate must explicitly state that you do not belong to the Creamy Layer and is valid for employment in central government institutions.
  • Applying for UR (Unreserved) posts as a reserved candidate without understanding relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates who apply for unreserved category vacancies forfeit their category-based age and marks relaxation-clarify before applying.
  • Typographical errors in the application: Incorrect spelling of name, incomplete addresses, or mismatched details between the application and certificates trigger document verification rejection.
  • Late document uploads: Uploading supporting certificates after submission is not permitted. Ensure all documents are uploaded before final submission.
  • Stenography speed threshold ignorance: For stenography and typing tests, accuracy requirements (maximum 5% errors) and speed benchmarks are qualifying conditions; failure results in elimination regardless of written exam score.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the total number of vacancies in JNU Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026?

Ans. The JNU Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026 has a total of 267 sanctioned posts spread across Group A (14 posts), Group B (15 posts), and Group C (238 posts). This includes backlog vacancies from previous recruitment cycles.

Q2. Are there vacancies reserved for women candidates?

Ans. Yes, posts are filled as per the Government of India’s reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates. Women candidates applying in the general category may be considered against unreserved vacancies; however, no separate women’s quota exists. Women candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for both category and gender-based fee concessions as per the fee structure.

Q3. Can I apply for multiple posts, and do I need to pay separate fees?

Ans. Yes, you can apply for multiple posts in a single application session. However, each post application requires a separate fee payment. A single ₹1,000 payment does not cover multiple posts-you must pay the applicable fee for each post independently.

Q4. What is the minimum age and maximum age limit for JNU Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026?

Ans. The minimum age is 18 years for most posts. The maximum age is 40 years for Group A, B, and most Group C posts, with a special provision of 45 years for Executive Engineer positions. SC/ST candidates receive 5 years’ relaxation, OBC candidates receive 3 years’ relaxation, and PwD candidates receive 10 years’ relaxation in the upper age limit. JNU’s own regular employees with 3+ years of service have no upper age limit.

Q5. What is the selection process for Group B and Group C posts?

Ans. Group B and Group C posts follow a selection process comprising Paper I (general knowledge and reasoning test for all candidates), Paper II (domain-specific for selected posts like Section Officer and Senior Assistant), and Skill Tests (typing/stenography for relevant posts). There is no interview for these groups as per the Ministry of Education guidelines. Candidates are shortlisted at each stage based on merit and minimum qualifying marks.

Q6. Is there an interview round, and for which posts?

Ans. Yes, an interview is conducted only for Group A posts (Executive Engineer, Assistant Librarian, Assistant Registrar, Research Officer, System Analyst, Curator, and other Level-10 and Level-11 positions). The interview carries 100 marks and has a 30% weightage in the final merit calculation for Group A. Group B and Group C posts do not have an interview component.

Q7. What documents do I need to upload during the application?

Ans. Upload a photograph (JPG format, 10-40 KB, 200×230 pixels), a signature (JPG format, 10-40 KB), and scans of educational certificates, experience certificates, caste/category certificates (if applicable), disability certificate (if claiming PwD benefit), and any other relevant credentials. Ensure all documents are clear, readable, and in the prescribed format.

Q8. What happens if I upload an OBC certificate dated before 1 April 2026?

Ans. OBC (NCL) certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026 as per the notification. Older certificates are not recognised for this recruitment and will result in rejection during document verification. You will lose both category eligibility and any fee concessions tied to the OBC category.
