The Public Service Commission, West Bengal (WBPSC) has released the WBPSC Recruitment 2026 notification. This recruitment examination aims to fill various vacancies, including Assistant Child Development Project Officer, Disaster Management Officer, and Block Youth Officer, among others. These are Group B and Group C equivalent posts under the Government of West Bengal.

WBPSC Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria 13/2024

Nationality

Candidates must be citizens of India or such other nationals as declared eligible by the Government of India.

Essential Educational Qualification (as on closing date)

  • A degree from a recognized University or its equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in Bengali (not required for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).
  • Knowledge of Bengali will be tested at the time of the Personality Test for candidates whose mother tongue is other than Bengali.

Age Limit

Cut-off date: 01.01.2024

  • Not below 20 years but not more than 39 years (born not earlier than 02.01.1985 and not later than 01.01.2004).

Age Relaxation

  • SC & ST of West Bengal: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of West Bengal: 3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Up to 45 years
  • No relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates of other States (treated as General)

N.B.: Age as recorded only in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted.

WBPSC Recruitment – Application Fee 13/2024

  • General / OBC: ₹160/- (plus service charges wherever applicable)
  • SC / ST of West Bengal & PwBD (40% and above): Nil (exempted)
  • Payment through online mode only. No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained.

WBPSC Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process 13/2024

The examination will be held in three successive stages:

  • Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – Screening Test only
  • Final Examination (Conventional Type – Written)
  • Personality Test

The final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the Final Examination and the personality test taken together. Preliminary marks will not be counted for final selection. There is negative marking for wrong answers in the Preliminary Examination.

Qualifying marks in aggregate (Written + Personality Test):

  • UR/EWS – 40%
  • OBC – 38%
  • SC – 35%
  • ST/PwBD – 30%
  • MSP – 40%

  • Madhyamik or equivalent certificate (for age proof)
  • Degree certificate and mark sheets
  • Caste / Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) issued by the competent authority of West Bengal
  • PwBD certificate (if applicable)
  • Meritorious Sportsperson certificate (in prescribed Form 1/2/3/4)
  • Photo ID proof (Voter ID, Aadhaar, Passport, Driving Licence, etc.)
  • Bengali knowledge will be tested at the Personality Test (wherever applicable)

Posts (Sl. Nos. 12 to 19) Pay Level-9 (₹28,900 – ₹74,500)

Besides pay, the posts carry allowances as admissible as per ROPA, 2019.
