Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of the online application (29-06-2026). All qualifications must be from a recognized University or Institution. Candidates awaiting results of their qualifying examination are not eligible to apply. English must have been studied as one of the subjects at the SSC (10th) level. One year of apprenticeship training after completion of a 1-year ITI course will be considered as one year of experience; the period of internship will not be counted as experience. The National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) for a training duration of 3 years will not be accepted where the essential qualification is a 2-year ITI certificate.

Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Welder SSC (10th) with minimum 50% marks in Science subject(s) and Mathematics individually, plus a 2-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade. For trades where the ITI course duration is less than 2 years, 1 year of relevant working experience after course completion is required. English must have been studied at least at the SSC (10th) level.
Special Note (Covid-19) The prescribed percentage of marks at SSC (10th) will not apply to candidates who passed 10th in the year 2021 and were declared pass without marks being awarded, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as per any special order issued by the Central/State Authority.
Project Affected Persons (PAPs) – Plant Operator Pass in HSC (12th) with not less than 40% marks in aggregate in the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) with English at the SSC level. 20% bonus marks added at all stages of selection.
Project Affected Persons (PAPs) – Other Trades Pass in SSC with Science and Mathematics and English at the SSC level with a 2-year ITI (or 1-year ITI + 1 year experience for shorter trades). 20% bonus marks added at all stages of selection.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 24 years of age as on 29-06-2026 (born on or after 29-06-2002 and on or before 29-06-2008). Age relaxation is available for various categories. In case a candidate is eligible for age relaxation under more than one category, the relaxations will be on a cumulative basis, subject to a maximum of 56 years. There is no age limit for NPCIL employees who otherwise fulfill the prescribed criteria.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages: Stage 1: Online Examination (Preliminary Test), Stage 2: Online Examination (Advanced Test), and Stage 3: Document Verification. Both Preliminary and Advanced Tests will be conducted on the same day without any break. Online Examination will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) only.
